
For the first time two women, mother and daughter, both members of the Navajo Nation are running for the Arizona House of Representatives. Both have legislative experience and are longtime residents of Cameron. They have lived in and traveled all across LD 6 (the largest legislative district in the state).

Mae Peshlakai is running for re-election to her third term in the State House. Mae Peshlakai is a survivor of Federal boarding schools and became an internationally recognized artist and indigenous knowledge elder.

Jamescita has served one term as Representative for the district and two terms in the State Senate. Under the Biden administration, Jamescita served as the tribal liaison for the US Department of Interior and in 2025 was appointed by Governor Hobbs to the Arizona State Transportation Board.
